Established in 2020, the Dompé Foundation aims to push the boundaries of scientific knowledge further by providing top-tier education opportunities to brilliant students in STEM fields. Initially launched in Italy and now extended to top-notch international universities, mainly across the US, the Foundation is determined to break down the barriers to higher education for talented and motivated students who lack the financial means to pursue a STEM degree. By supporting highly innovative academic programs, the Foundation aims to contribute to the development of new professionals, especially within the life sciences industry.

Uncovering the history of Dompé farmaceutici and Italy’s pharmaceutical industry

Founded in 2020, the Dompé Foundation Historical Archive strives to safeguard and promote awareness about the entrepreneurial journey of a family that has always been driven by the desire to innovate.

This journey began in 1890, when Onorato Dompé opened his first production lab in Milan. With its extensive and diverse collection, the Archive enables us to delve into the historical roots of Dompé farmaceutici, while also permitting us to explore the evolution of Italy’s pharmaceutical industry from the mid-1800s to the 1970s.

More than 230 scholarships awarded and 18 million euros invested, with a commitment to reach 30 million euros by 2030

To date, the Fondazione Dompé Scholarship Program has supported 234 scholarship recipients throughout their academic and research journeys. They have attended, or are currently attending, 39 leading universities across Italy and the United States, reflecting academic excellence and diverse backgrounds.

 

Recipients represent a highly international and diverse community, coming from more than 23 countries across Europe (Italy, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Spain, Portugal, Moldova and San Marino), Asia (India, China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Palestine, Singapore, Iran, Kuwait and Thailand), the Americas (the United States, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba and Peru), and Africa (Nigeria and Morocco).

 

The program also demonstrates a strong commitment to gender inclusion, with women accounting for 58% of recipients and men for 42%.

From undergraduate and master's degrees to PhD and postdoctoral programmes, the initiative supports scholars at every stage of their academic careers, with a particular focus on advanced higher education and research training.

 

In terms of academic disciplines, 90% of recipients pursue studies in the life sciences, spanning fields such as neuroscience, neurobiology, molecular biotechnology and biomedical engineering.

 

Since 2020, including the new scholarship cycle for the 2026/2027 academic year, Fondazione Dompé has invested a total of 18 million euros in the program. Looking ahead, the Foundation aims to invest 30 million euros by 2030, progressively expanding the number of talented scholars supported each year in STEM disciplines and helping to nurture the next generation of scientific and innovation talent.
